Retailer increases investment by 15 per cent to source 4,300 tonnes exclusively from Spanish suppliers, with focus on Huelva production

Spanish retailer Dia says it will allocate €16mn to support the country’s growers and purchase 100 per cent locally sourced strawberries this season.
In a statement, the group said the investment represented a 15 per cent increase compared with the previous year, a move that underlined its commitment to seasonal products and national origin.
In total, the company plans to purchase 4,300 tonnes of strawberries from Spanish suppliers in 2026, mainly from the province of Huelva in Andalusia.
“This collaboration ensures a careful selection of the product, through close collaboration with suppliers, to offer customers strawberries with the highest standards of flavour, texture, and freshness,” it commented.
“The company will primarily market two sales formats and will work with varieties such as Inspire, RedSayra, Marisma, and Duna, renowned for their quality and excellent taste.”
