The first year of the European promotional apple campaign ’Have an apple day! Get to know high quality apples from EU’, co-funded by the EU and implemented in Brazil, came to an end in August.

Designed to promote European standards of quality, food safety and traceability over a three-year period, it featured a range of public relations activities alongside the distribution of press and educational materials in Brazil.

The campaign also included a press event in São Paulo, participation at Anuga Select Brazil 2026, and meetings with importers, distributors and representatives of Brazil’s fruit and vegetable sector.

“European apples have already established a presence in the Brazilian market, but we still see opportunities to build greater awareness of where they come from and how they are produced,” said Piotr Janota, president of the Polish Association of Fruit and Vegetable Distributors (Unia Owocowa).

“We want consumers to see an EU apple as more than just the product itself, and to understand the entire production system behind its quality.”

According to European Commission data, by the end of May 2026 EU apple exports to Brazil had reached 78,218 tonnes.
