Campaign participated in Anuga Select Brazil 2026, highlighting the quality and safety of EU apples

The ‘Have an apple day! Get to know high quality apples from EU,’ campaign, co-funded by the European Union, took part in the recent Anuga Select Brazil 2026 fair in São Paulo. According to the campaign organisers, the growing importance of fruit imports in Brazil and increasing market expectations for food quality and safety are creating new opportunities for European apple producers.
The Anuga Select Brazil 2026 fair, held on 7-9 April, attracted more than 14,000 visitors and 550 exhibitors from around the world. The event confirmed Brazil’s growing role as an important market for premium food products and an important meeting place for importers, distributors and the hospitality & restaurant sector.
At the campaign’s booth, European apples were presented as a product that meets the needs of today’s market – in terms of quality, safety and full traceability of production. Visitors had the opportunity to learn about European cultivation standards and quality control, as well as participate in direct B2B meetings with campaign experts and representatives of European fruit growers. The talks focused on opportunities for commercial cooperation, product availability and the specifics of supplying the Brazilian market.
The campaign’s participation in the trade fair was complemented by a press event held on 8 April at Praça São Lourenço restaurant in São Paulo. The meeting brought together media representatives food influencers and industry partners.
“The event presented European apples in a modern, culinary context – as a versatile ingredient suitable for both savoury dishes and desserts,” the organisers said. “It was also an opportunity to present the goals and objectives of the campaign, which are to increase the visibility of EU apples on the Brazilian market and to foster trade relations between European producers and local partners.”
Piotr Janota, president of the Association of Polish Fruit and Vegetable Distributors Fruit Union (which represents European apple growers) commented: “Campaign activities are in line with the broader context of the growing importance of apple imports in the Brazilian market and the growing interest in products that meet high quality standards. European apples respond to these needs, offering stable supply and compliance with market requirements”.
The ‘Have an apple day! Get to know high quality apples from EU’ campaign is focused on promoting European apples outside the EU, specifically in Brazil and Colombia. The three-year campaign – launched in November 2025, features a mix of activities aimed at both industry professionals and consumers. Planned initiatives include cooperation with Colombian and Brazilian media and influencers, participation in key trade events, digital information campaigns, B2B meetings with importers and distributors, and a study trip to Europe for selected market partners to experience apple production standards first-hand.
