New Zealand-based group Greener Pastures has launched an investment fund that offers foreigners the chance to buy into the country’s burgeoning kiwifruit business and secure residency under the country’s recently relaxed ‘golden visa’ rules.

The scheme, which is approved by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise, is an opportunity for wealthy applicants who meet certain visa thresholds to take advantage of the nation’s rapid expansion in kiwifruit, driven by new varieties like SunGold and RubyRed.

As reported in the New Zealand Herald, Greener Pastures already manages NZ$225mn worth of kiwifruit assets mainly on behalf of local investors, including about 150ha of production around the Bay of Plenty.

The copmpany’s MD Dominic Jones told the newspaper: “In simple terms, if [clients] invest NZ$5mn into our funds, it’s a pathway for them to securing residency.

“It gives our clients the ability to meet the investment requirements of the Active Investor Plus visa through investing in one of New Zealand’s most successful industries.”
