They will be addressed during the 2022 Vertical Farming World Congress by Barbara Trachte, secretary of state for the Brussels Capital Region.

Trachte will explain the Regional Strategy for Economic Transition and how this strategy can support the development of vertical farming activity in Brussels and beyond.

“Vertical farming is at the crossroads of multiple sectors and dependent on a wide range of competences, which are often split between different ministers,” said Trachte when she launched the Regional Strategy for Economic Transition entitled ‘Shifting Economy’. ”Vertical farming therefore needs a comprehensive approach from the public authorities.”

During the Congress, Trachte will outline the strategic role envisaged for vertical farming and link it to the vision developed by the region for the former Abattoirs.

She will present her vision at the Brussels Abattoir, where Congress delegates will also visit three urban agriculture operators – BIGH, ECLO and Urban Harvest.

The 2022 Vertical Farming World Congress takes place from 19-21 September in the centre of Brussels, organised by specialist consultants Zenith Global in association with FarmTech Society.
