Kuehne + Nagel International, the Switzerland-based logistics group, has announced that Reinhard Lange will take up the role of chief executive officer on 1 January 2009.
Mr Lange was initially appointed a the successor to current CEO Klaus Herms by the board of directors in September 2007.
'The changeover at the top of the management board has been prepared diligently. Therefore the board of directors, in agreement with the management board, has taken the decision to assign Reinhard Lange full responsibility for the implementation of the group's strategy as of the beginning of 2009,' said Klaus-Michael Kuehne, executive chairman of the company's board of directors. The decision ensures continuity in the company's management and its strategic orientation, which is crucial ion the view of the challenging market environment.'
Mr Lange has been with Kuehne + Nagel since 1971, and has operated in a number of different roles.
The outgoing Mr Herms will continue to support the company in a consultancy role, Mr Kuehne added.
