French retail giant Carrefour and UK-based Tesco, Europe's leading retailers, are among four bidders vying for the purchase of Polish chain Zabka.
Two unnamed sourced told Reuters this week that two strategic investors – Tesco and Carrefour – and two financial investors were left in the bidding process, which involves more than 2,300 outlets in Poland and the Czech Republic.
Josef Janov, managing partner for Poland at Zabka owner Penta Investments, did not comment on the reports but told Reuters that the final decision on the sale would be made in January.
