Transport giant DP World is set to expand its freight forwarding operations to Sweden with the opening of new offices in Stockholm and Gothenberg in February 2026.

According to the group, the move will support import-export routes between Sweden and key markets in the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, and Latin America.

And it is expected to help DP World reach net zero by 2025. The new division aims to offer up to 25 per cent of shipments via rail and sea in its first year of operation – a strategy it says will reduce road emissions – and completely paper-free documentation.

The new offices are also expected to benefit from the rollout of DP World’s Cargoes platform, which it says strengthens Electronic Data Interchange connectivity with global clients and streamlining customs operations for Swedish exporters.

Stephen Whittingham, the group’s executive vice-president for North Europe, said: “Our new operation in Sweden will connect businesses across the country with our global network, create new jobs, and continue DP World’s investment in sustainable, technology-driven logistics.”

He added: “This is the next step in developing and expanding the service DP World offers to customers in Sweden and across the region. Sweden’s culture of innovation, collaboration and sustainability makes it a natural partner for DP World’s next chapter in the Nordics, and we are looking forward to becoming a trusted partner to Swedish industry leaders across the automotive, technology, manufacturing, and retail sectors.”

Bojan Knightly, country manager for Sweden, said: “By establishing DP World in Stockholm and Gothenburg, we’re aiming to give regional customers a simpler, faster and more transparent way to move goods around the world and connect to the global market. We are very excited with this announcement and look forward to further growth in Sweden and the wider region as we continue to scale up our operations in the Nordics.”

The expansion has been supported by regional partners and service providers, including DP World-owned company Foodtankers, which recently celebrated its 70th anniversary, as well as Business Sweden and the Swedish Trade and Invest Council.
