Import Promotion Desk (IPD), the initiative promoting imports in Germany, will introduce new trade partners for fresh fruits and vegetables at an upcoming virtual B2B event.

Fresh herbs from Kenya, mangoes from Brazil, pitahayas from Ecuador, pineapples from Ghana and many other products will be showcased at the event, which is taking place from 26 May to 5 June.

European buyers will have the opportunity to schedule individual online meetings with producers to get to know new trading partners and their product offerings.

According to IPD, Kenyan avocado and herb producers will participate in the event, with their range also including sugar snap peas and snow peas.

The Ghanaian participant produces three varieties of pineapples – Sugarloaf, Smooth Cayenne, and MD2 – as well as papayas, while the Egyptian company involved offers melons and pumpkins.

Two companies from Ecuador will present pitahayas, as well as broccoli and cauliflower, IPD noted, while the event will feature a Colombian blueberry producer.

Mango experts from Brazil and Côte d’Ivoire, who grow the Keit, Kent, Palmer and Tommy varieties, will also be involved.

IPD forms a link between small and medium-sized enterprises in selected developing and emerging countries and European importers.

The aim is to integrate the partner countries into global trade, thus making a contribution to sustainable economic, social and ecological development in these countries.

It is currently active in 21 countries: Brazil, Cambodia, Colombia, Côte d’Ivoire, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Madagascar, Morocco, Nepal, Peru, Senegal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, Tunisia, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
