The collaboration will see OSY Group’s shelf-life extending technology applied to fresh fruit and vegetable packaging in Australia

Food tech company OSY Group has announced a new partnership in Australia as it ramps up its global growth.
The partnership with Multisteps follows similar agreements secured by OSY Group in the UK, EU and most recently South Africa and Namibia.
Multisteps is a multinational, family-owned company that designs and manufactures premium and customisable packaging across a number of sectors including fresh produce.
The collaboration will see OSY Group’s technology applied on packaging for fresh fruits and vegetables sold in the Australian market.
The contract will initially run for five years until November 2030.
OSY Group’s antimicrobial coating enables food to stay fresh for longer by leaving microscopic pins on packaging surfaces which puncture and kill microbes, slowing the natural spoiling process that affects the produce within.
“This partnership with Multisteps builds on the foundations we have established in the UK and EU markets and the recently-announced agreement in southern Africa,” said Marc Braterman, chief executive of OSY Group.
“It’s a further step in expanding our technology’s application across multiple packaging types and geographies.
“In addition, it supports our strategy of partnering with market-leading packaging manufacturers worldwide to deliver innovative solutions that extend shelf-life, reduce food waste and provide a point of differentiation in the highly-competitive food packaging market,” he continued.
“The growing commercial adoption of our technology follows multiple years of testing and validation across a range of product types.
“The technology complies with international food contact material regulations, and is proven not to migrate from the packaging into the produce,” Braterman confirmed.
“Extending the shelf-life of fresh produce delivers measurable benefits across the food supply chain, from producers to supermarkets and all the way to consumers, who are able to buy fresher, higher-quality produce that lasts longer at home.”
Multisteps and OSY Group have also begun collaborating in China, where the manufacturer has a site, and plan to jointly explore the US market.
“The rPET punnet has been a trusted, long-standing packaging format for a broad range of fresh fruit and produce,” said Sam Lam, managing director of Multisteps.
“Over our 20-plus years’ manufacturing experience, we have developed hundreds of designs to provide our loyal customers with packaging that provides the protection, convenience and presentation required for their products.
“Our partnership with OSY Group will enable us to present the next evolution of the rPET punnet without compromising any of its existing recyclability and performance credentials,” Lam noted.
“We look forward to working closely with our customers and OSY Group to bring this innovative solution, as well as others, to our customers in all areas of our Asia- Pacific markets during 2026 and beyond.”
