Berry specialist Herbert Widmann is investing in a new logistics facility near Vienna to enhance its supply operations across Central and Eastern Europe

Berry specialist Herbert Widmann is set to begin the construction of a new facility in Münchendorf, near Vienna, and will host an official groundbreaking ceremony on 22 June.
The company said it is investing in a state-of-the-art logistics platform that will play a central role in supplying markets in Austria and Central and Eastern Europe in the future.
The location, which includes a total of around 10,000m² of usable space, is being built on a 12,300m² site.
Widmann noted that the new facility will be specially designed to meet the requirements of the international fresh food trade and has several temperature ranges for optimum product quality and flexible flow of goods.
With the new building, Widmann said it is specifically strengthening its activities in Central and Eastern Europe.
The company already supplies the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Croatia and Italy daily, with further expansion towards Greece and the Baltic States already planned.
“The markets in Austria as well as in Central and Eastern Europe have been developing very positively for us for years,” explains Karl Schmiederer, managing director of Herbert Widmann.
“With the new building, we are creating the basis for serving our customers in the entire CEE region even more efficiently and flexibly in the future.”
The expansion of the site will create around 200 jobs in the medium term, the group confirmed.
“The new location is much more than a construction project for us,” added Schmiederer. “We are investing in growth, modern jobs, sustainability and the future of our company in Austria and the entire CEE region in the long term.”
