Event at NIAB on 25 November delves into cutting-edge research and commercial opportunities for fresh produce sector

A new conference from the Worshipful Company of Fruiterers in collaboration with FPJ will explore the research shaping the future of the UK fresh produce industry.
The event, entitled ‘F³ – Future of Fruit and Fresh’, takes place at NIAB’s Orchards Event Venue in East Malling on Wednesday 25 November, bringing together industry leaders, researchers and young talent.
An opening keynote speech from Fruiterers Liveryman John Shropshire will be followed by an afternoon address from Professor David Hughes (aka Dr Food) on reversing the decline in fresh produce consumption.
Two concurrent conference streams will run throughout the day, showcasing Nuffield Scholars, researchers, PhD candidates and student prize winners supported by the Fruiterers over the last decade.
The programme covers the varietal, climate, pest and disease research supporting the UK’s topfruit industry, as well as the commercial challenges the sector faces, advances in technology, and the role of regenerative farming in the nutritional content of our food.
Speakers will explore the opportunities and challenges the industry must seize upon in the years to come.
