Multiple third parties are understood to have received fake messages from individuals impersonating Unifrutti employees, with some apparently originating from Malaysia region
Fresh produce company Unifrutti has issued an alert after a number of unnamed third parties received what it described as “fraudulent communications” from a range of different sources.
“We are aware of fraudulent communications from websites, emails, social media posts, and messages via online platforms, falsely claiming to represent Unifrutti Group,” it said in a statement.
“These third parties may impersonate Unifrutti employees, stakeholders or associates to solicit payments, including fraudulent investment opportunities, recruitment offers, or visa-related fees. These communications may be communicated via phone calls, messaging apps, websites, emails, and other channels, some originating from the Malaysia region.”
It added: “We urge anyone to exercise extreme caution, should you receive suspicious communications. Unifrutti Group is not associated with any unsolicited communications of this nature.
“Please be aware that we will only ever communicate using the @unifruttigroup.com email. We will never ask you to provide goods, services or employment without going through a standard checklist or signing a contract.”
Unifrutti Group’s official website operates under the domain name unifruttigroup.com, although it does also have a number of local website addresses for its businesses in Chile, Italy, South Africa, and Japan.
“We are not connected with the hosts of any other websites that resemble Unifrutti’s official websites and will not be held liable for losses or damages resulting from fraudulent use of our name by third parties,” it said. “We disclaim all responsibility for actions, transactions, or representations made by individuals or organisations falsely using Unifrutti Group identity.”
