Dutch agricultural consultancy Delphy has appointed Edwin van Lenthe as managing director of its Netherlands business, succeeding Jacco van der Wekken, who is retiring after more than 34 years with the organisation.

Van Lenthe joins Delphy with experience in the agri-food and horticulture sectors, as well as organisational development and international digital transformation projects. During his career, he has held positions at companies including vegetable breeding specialist Rijk Zwaan, orchid producer Floricultura and brewer Heineken.

He studied agro systems engineering at Wageningen University & Research and is recognised for a leadership approach focused on collaboration, knowledge sharing and organisational development.

“The combination of deep expertise, independence and practical sector knowledge strongly resonates with me,” said Van Lenthe. “Delphy has an impressive knowledge base and highly committed specialists who truly make a difference for growers and the sector as a whole.”

The appointment comes as Delphy seeks to strengthen its position in a changing agricultural landscape. Since 2024, the company has been part of Royal Peterson Control Union Group, a move that Van Lenthe said offers opportunities to expand internationally and increase knowledge exchange across the group.

“The [group’s] international strength, combined with Delphy’s in-depth expertise, creates tremendous potential,” he commented. “At the same time, the foundation always remains the people and knowledge within the organisation.”

Van Lenthe said his initial priorities would be to engage with employees across the business, build relationships and develop a deeper understanding of the organisation.

“Strong organisations are built together,” he added. “I strongly believe in connecting people, processes and knowledge to achieve progress collectively.”

Delphy said the appointment reflects its focus on continuity, collaboration and long-term growth as growers face evolving challenges and opportunities across the agricultural and horticultural sectors.
