Chris White visits the Loire Valley in France to see how apple production can be engineered to withstand the challenges of climate change.

He sees the first picks of Stellar, an early apple variety that kicks off the new harvest and can produce excellent colour even in hot conditions.

And he speaks to Marc Rauffet, president of French grower Innatis, about an ingenious way of growing apples called Fruit Wall.

According to Rauffet, this method has become even more useful as growers try to overcome frosts, hail, pests and diseases, and also keep a lid on their labour costs.
